Artistic concept by and for the GingerEnsemble Bern & guest-composers David Behrman & Peter Färber
With ‘erroneous music,’ the GingerEnsemble deliberately ventures onto the slippery slope of mistakes and perceptual irritations in search of phantom sounds and acoustic illusions, virtual irritations, deliberately controlled and misdirected resonances and sound phenomena, probing the spiritual walls for their reflections.

The programme consists of pieces and commissioned compositions that respond to the specific situation but work in various similar locations, so that new site-specific versions are created in each space. Together with David Behrman, we explore the acoustic and architectural conditions of the locations.
This can lead to compositional arrangements based on the floor plan of the churches, while the varying incidence of light can lead to changing soundscapes – David Behrman
was the first composer/performer to control electronically generated sounds with photocells – and the ringing of the bells of the three churches, described by the sacristan as ‘ugly’, bells of St. Peter and Paul's Church, as well as the five bells of Zurich's Grossmünster, which can be experienced live in the Karlsturm, form a starting point for ‘erroneous music’.
A partly simultaneous round of compositions, installations and performances by Peter Färber, Jonas Kocher, Lara Stanic, Klara Schilliger, Cyrill Lim and Valerian Maly in ensemble with David Behrman: contemporary music and performance explore the sound and sensory space of the Grossmünster in Zurich and the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Bern using the latest and historical technology.
