In the Blink of an Ear embraces a collective and collaborative approach around sound art, building since its beginnings a community around this medium. Since 2022, the project has been conceived as an open, collaborative sound laboratory that explores processes of perception and enables collaborative creative actions.

The first manifestation of the participatory sound and media art project In the Blink of an Ear invited 12 participants to a collective studio to work together with sounds. Sounds that surround us, combined with sound spectra generated by old electronic media and DIY devices. In this practice-oriented art project, we searched for experimental methods of recording sounds and explored sound devices such as cassette recorders, radios, transistors, and small loudspeakers.
We soldered piezo buzzers (simple ceramic microphones) and electric coils and “hacked” Walkmans. With these devices and tools, we designed and worked on individual and collective artworks without limiting ourselves to a
predefined format. Finally, we created an exhibition with the artworks we had developed.
The shared studio and gallery were provided to us by the Știrbei47 collective in Bucharest.
