Five binaural pieces
Every conversion of sound, from digital to analogue and back again, every component in the chain of playback and recording, such as microphones, amplifiers or loudspeakers, interferes with the original material and alters it.
Starting with the purest sound material, a sine wave, overtone structures and noises are added and distorted by means of excessive repetition of playback and recording using various devices. But they are also filtered out again. Only with the supporting and transmitting media is this initial sine wave musically shaped and turned into sound. The theme here is the distortion of the image by the media and the self-reflection of the medium.
